We prioritize the health and well-being of every hedgehog we place. We carefully screen buyers to ensure a suitable home. If we determine that a potential buyer is not a good fit or cannot properly care for a hedgehog, we reserve the right to refuse the sale. Our main concern is the welfare of the animals, and we will not compromise on this.

All prices are firm (non-negotiable).
Any hedgehog under $300 is considered discounted.

Deposit Requirement

A $100 non-refundable deposit is required to join the waiting list or reserve a baby or adult hedgehog. Priority is based on the order deposits are received.

We only hold hedgehogs after receiving payment.

We do not accept personal checks, e-checks, or money orders.

If a payment is disputed after receiving your hedgehog and accessories, you will be responsible for all legal fees involved in resolving the dispute.

We offer a paid waiting list option for those who want priority access to choose from our most sought-after hedgehog babies. Many of our rare and popular colors are reserved by Waiting List Members well before they become available to the public.

Supply Verification

Before bringing your new hedgehog home, we ask that you submit clear photos of your setup to confirm that you have all required supplies ready. This step helps us make sure your hedgehog’s new environment is safe, comfortable, and properly equipped.

What to Include in Your Photos

Please submit clear photos showing:

Cage setup - front and top views, including measurements
Heating setup - all four components clearly visible
Food and nutrition you plan to provide

Helpful Tips:

Double-check your cage and accessory measurements before sending photos
Minimum enclosure size required: 4-square feet
Be prepared to provide a short video if additional verification is needed.

Pickup Policy

Scheduling

Your enclosure must be approved before scheduling pickup.

Setup approval is required before scheduling
Only the approved adopter may schedule pickup
Pickup must occur within 7 days of notification unless otherwise arranged

Final Payment

Cash preferred for pickup
Card payments must be arranged at least 48 hours in advance

Ownership & Breeding

At Gunner’s Quills, the health, safety, and ethical care of our hedgehogs are our top priorities. To protect the integrity of our breeding program, we maintain strict policies regarding breeding rights and ownership.

Pet Home Agreements

Hedgehogs sold as pets are not permitted to be bred under any circumstances.

• Pedigrees are reserved exclusively for USDA-licensed breeders
• Pet homes will not receive pedigrees
• Breeding rights are not transferable or implied

Breeding Penalties

Any intentional or accidental breeding of a pet hedgehog constitutes a breach of contract and will result in the following actions:

• A $1,000 penalty payable to Gunner’s Quills
• Legal action to reclaim the hedgehog and any offspring
• Recovery of all legal fees and related costs
• Forfeiture of all health guarantees

Microchipping

Hedgehogs may be microchipped at our discretion to help ensure compliance with breeding and ownership agreements.

Rehoming Restrictions

Hedgehogs sold as pets may not be resold, rehomed, or transferred for breeding purposes under any circumstances.

Any violation of this policy will be treated as a breach of contract and addressed accordingly.

Rehoming & Surrender

At Gunner’s Quills, we retain partial ownership of all hedgehogs to ensure their lifelong safety and well-being. If at any point you are unable to continue caring for your hedgehog, you must contact us immediately so proper arrangements can be made.

All hedgehogs must be returned directly to Gunner’s Quills for rehoming. This ensures they are placed in safe, knowledgeable, and responsible homes.

Important Considerations

Personality, temperament, coloration, and markings cannot be guarantee
Prospective owners are expected to thoroughly research hedgehog care prior to adoption
Ownership comes with long-term responsibility and commitment

Surrender Requirements

If you are no longer able to care for your hedgehog:

The hedgehog must be returned to Gunner’s Quills
You are responsible for all transportation and related costs
No refunds or compensation will be issued upon surrender
Rehoming, gifting, or selling a hedgehog is strictly prohibited

Failure to comply with these terms may result in legal action.

Final Sale

All sales of hedgehogs, supplies, and shipping or delivery services are final and non-refundable once services have been rendered.

Ownership Restrictions

Hedgehogs are not legal to own in the following locations:

California
Georgia
Hawaii
Pennsylvania
New York City (all boroughs)
Washington, D.C.
Fairfax County, Virginia

It is the adopter’s responsibility to verify local and state laws prior to purchase. We cannot place a hedgehog in any location where ownership is restricted.

Health Guarantee Policy

To qualify for our health guarantee, your hedgehog must receive a veterinary examination within 14 days of purchase. This exam establishes a medical baseline, confirms overall health, and ensures you have an established relationship with a veterinarian in case of emergencies.

What’s Covered?

6-month replacement warranty for congenital diseases on baby hedgehogs purchased from us.
Lifetime replacement warranty for Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS) on those babies.

Necropsy Requirement

In the event of a loss, a necropsy is required to determine eligibility for a replacement.

The necropsy report must include:

Detailed physical description (weight, body condition, color, facial markings)
Confirmation of a congenital condition or WHS

Once the necropsy report is reviewed and approved, you will have 60 days to select a replacement hedgehog.

Replacement Terms

You are responsible for all veterinary and shipping costs
The original purchase price will be applied toward a replacement hedgehog of equal or lesser value
If selecting a higher-priced hedgehog, the price difference must be paid

What Is Not Covered

• Rescues, surrenders or hedgehogs priced under $300
• Illness or injury resulting from improper care, incorrect temperatures, or breeding
• Any hedgehog that has been bred, intentionally or accidentally

Important Notice

Breeding a hedgehog—whether intentional or accidental—voids all health guarantees and may result in legal action.

Right of Refusal

Cancellations & Refunds

If a sale is canceled due to welfare or eligibility concerns, you will receive a refund of all payments excluding the non-refundable $100 deposit. Approved refunds will be processed within 60 days.

Eligibility Requirements

Honesty and transparency are essential throughout the adoption process. Providing false or misleading information, or using abusive or disrespectful language toward our staff, will result in immediate cancellation of the sale with forfeiture of the deposit.

Applicants must accurately disclose:

• Age (must be 18 or older)
• State of residence
• Current hedgehog ownership
• Intentions regarding breeding
• Intended primary caretaker of the hedgehog

Supply Readiness Requirement

If required supplies are not secured prior to pickup, the sale may be denied and all payments forfeited. Hedgehog care supplies can be costly, and adopters are expected to be fully prepared before purchase.

Restrictions & Review Process

Information provided in the adoption application may be reviewed and verified by Gunner’s Quills, collaborating breeders, veterinarians, or regulatory authorities as necessary.

Homes with opposite-sex hedgehogs may be denied adoption to prevent accidental breeding.

Any false, misleading, or incentivized reviews related to a denied adoption may result in blacklisting with affiliated breeders and possible legal action.

Hedgehogs are not suitable as classroom pets or surprise gifts.
