We’re excited you’re interested in adopting a hedgehog from Gunner’s Quills. To help you have the best experience, here’s everything you need to know.
1. Our Commitment
We prioritize the health and well-being of every hedgehog we sell. We carefully screen buyers to ensure they can provide a suitable home. If we determine that a potential buyer is not a good fit or cannot properly care for a hedgehog, we reserve the right to refuse the sale. Our main concern is the welfare of the animals, and we will not compromise on this.

2. How to Reserve
Step 1:
Visit our Available page to meet our adorable babies! Click on the photo of the hedgehog you’d like to reserve to see more pictures and learn all about their personality, date of birth, ready date, color, and other important details every future owner should know.
Step 2:
Complete our Prospective Buyer Form: Before making a deposit to reserve a baby or joining the waiting list, or scheduling a Meet & Greet, you’ll need to fill out and get approval on this form. If you’re under 18, a parent or guardian will need to complete the form. We’ll communicate only with the approved applicant and their listed alternative contact.
Step: 3
Make Your Deposit: Once approved, you may place your $100 non-refundable deposit to hold your hedgehog. This deposit will be applied toward your purchase price.

Your prospective buyers form must be approved before finalizing your purchase.
By purchasing or reserving a hedgehog from us, you are agreeing to these terms and conditions.
3. Pricing Overview

Male hoglets: Starting at $300

Female hoglets: Starting at $350

Prices may vary depending on factors like age, temperament, color, and lineage.

All prices are firm (non-negotiable).

Any hedgehog under $300 is considered discounted.
4. Deposits & Payments
Waiting List:
Joining the waiting list requires a $100 non-refundable deposit. Priority is based on the order deposits are received.
Baby Hedgehogs:
Reserving a baby on the available page requires a $100 non-refundable deposit. Most babies are not ready to leave mom, therefore cannot be met in person unless their profile says "Ready Now."
Adults Hedgehogs:
To reserve an adult, you must meet them in person. They will not be able to go home with you until your application has been approved and proof of required supplies has been provided in advance.
Holding:
We only hold hedgehogs after receiving payment.

We do not accept personal checks, e-checks, or money orders.
Payment Disputes
If you dispute a payment after receiving your hedgehog and accessories, you will be responsible for all legal costs involved in resolving the dispute.
5. Priority Waiting List
We offer a paid waiting list option for those who want priority access to choose from our most sought-after hedgehog babies. Many of our rare and popular colors are reserved by Waiting List Members well before they become available to the public.

6. Supply Verification
Before you bring your new hedgehog home, we ask that you please send us clear photos to verify you have the right supplies ready. This step helps us make sure your hedgehog’s new environment is safe, comfortable, and properly equipped. (The secret word is Expo.) For convenience, we do offer supply kits for sale. Orders need to be submitted 7 days in advance to make sure everything arrives before your baby is ready to go home.

Helpful Tips

Double-check your cage and accessory measurements before sending photos a minimum for 4-square feet is requited.

Be prepared to provide a video if we need a closer look.

7. Pickup Policy
Pre-Approval & Scheduling
We require that your enclosure setup is pre-approved before you schedule your hedgehog's pickup..

Enclosure Setup Approval — Before scheduling pickup, you must have your enclosure setup approved.

Approved Contact — Only the approved applicant may contact us to schedule pickup.

Pickup Window — Once notified your hedgehog is ready, please plan to pick them up within 7 days, unless other arrangements have been agreed upon.
Balance Payment
We prefer cash, but if you prefer to pay by card, please let us know before pickup so we can send you a Pay Link. All electronic payments must be completed at least 48 hours in advance. (Refer to our Payment Methods Policy for details on fees.)
Pickup Location
Porch pickups are by appointment only at our residence in Owasso, Oklahoma.

Appointment Guidelines

Early Arrivals — Call or text if you arrive early; we may be able to accommodate you sooner.

Time Allotted — We block 30 minutes for pickups. Use this time to ask questions!

Punctuality — Please be on time; our appointments are scheduled around family commitments. If you’re more than 15 minutes late, we may not be able to complete your pickup that day.

Rescheduling

Need to reschedule? Please notify us at least 24 hours in advance.

Running late? Let us know at least 30 minutes before your appointment.
No-Shows

No-shows will incur a $25 fee.

After a second no-show, your deposit will be forfeited and the hedgehog will be relisted for adoption.

8. Breeding Policy
At Gunner's Quills Exotics, the health and welfare of our hedgehogs is our top priority. To protect our animals and maintain the integrity of our breeding program, we have strict policies regarding breeding rights:
Pet Home Contracts

Hedgehogs sold as pets cannot be bred.

Pedigrees and breeding rights are reserved only for USDA-licensed breeders.

Pet homes will not receive pedigrees under any circumstances.
Breeding Prohibitions and Penalties
Any accidental or intentional breeding of a hedgehog sold as a pet is a breach of contract and will result in:

A $1,000 penalty payable to Gunner's Quills.
-
Legal action to reclaim the hedgehog, all offspring, and to recover legal costs.
-
Restitution for any profits made from breeding the animal or its offspring.
-
All health guarantees will be void if a pet hedgehog is bred.
Microchipping
Hedgehogs may be microchipped at our discretion to help ensure compliance with our breeding and rehoming policies.
Resale and Rehoming Restrictions

Hedgehogs sold as pets may not be rehomed, resold, or transferred for breeding purposes under any circumstances.
This policy helps us protect the well-being of our hedgehogs and uphold responsible breeding standards. We take these terms seriously and will enforce them as needed to ensure the best care for our animals.

If you recently moved from one of these states and have not switched over your license, we will need something with your name and new address on it.
Hedgehogs are not legal in:

California, Georgia, Hawaii, Pennsylvania

Washington, D.C., Fairfax County VA, and New York City boroughs

11. Warranty Information
To qualify for our health guarantees, your hedgehog must have a vet exam within two weeks of purchase. This exam helps establish a health baseline, creates accurate records (including your hedgehog’s birthdate), and builds a relationship with a veterinarian in case of emergencies.
What’s Covered?

6-month replacement warranty for congenital diseases on baby hedgehogs purchased from us.
-
Lifetime replacement warranty for Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome (WHS) on those babies.
Important Details
-
Necropsy is required to approve any replacement.
-
The report must include:
-
Detailed description (weight, body condition, color, facial markings)
-
Confirmation of congenital disorders or WHS
-

After we review and approve the necropsy report, you have 60 days to choose a replacement hedgehog.
-
You will be responsible for any vet and shipping costs related to the replacement. If confirmed, your original purchase price will be applied toward an equal or lower-priced replacement. You may choose a replacement at a higher price but you will be responsible for the price difference.
What’s NOT Covered?
-
Juveniles, adults, rescue hedgehogs, and those priced under $325.

Illness or injury caused by improper care, temperature problems, or breeding.
Important:

If your hedgehog is bred, whether by accident or on purpose, all health guarantees become void, and legal action will be taken.
12. Shipping & Transport
Ground Transport
We offer delivery through a USDA-licensed ground transporter for $250 (covers up to two hedgehogs). We cannot guarantee the hedgehog’s condition or health after leaving for transport without a health certificate. If you choose not to obtain one, transport is at your own risk.

Delivery dates and times are estimates and may change due to routing or traffic.

Please do not contact the transporter directly—their role is to ensure safe delivery, and all communication will come from us.
Health Certificates
For added assurance, you can request a health certificate for $250, which includes:

Full examination by our veterinarian which covers up to four animals

Official certificate(s)

Associated travel fees & time
Live Animal Guarantee (LAG)
Our transporter's Live Animal Guarantee applies under the following conditions:
-
The guarantee is valid only if a USDA health certificate has been purchased prior to transport. It covers the hedgehog’s safe and live arrival at the delivery location. This coverage does not extend beyond the delivery time—once your hedgehog is in your care, their health becomes your responsibility.

To keep the guarantee valid, you must be present at the agreed delivery time and location and inspect your hedgehog immediately upon arrival.
-
The LAG guarantee will be void if no health certificate was purchased, if the buyer is not present at delivery and the paperwork is signed by someone else, if the hedgehog is left outside unattended or exposed to extreme temperatures after delivery, or if issues are not reported within one hour of the hedgehog’s arrival.

If a claim is approved by our transporter, we will provide a replacement hedgehog of equal value and transport fees are waived for your replacement.
13. Your Responsibilities
By purchasing from Gunner's Quills, you agree to:

Provide a proper lifelong home (minimum 4 sq. ft. cage, 78-80°F environment, balanced diet, basic care, and regular handling).

Prevent breeding (breeding voids warranty and is legally prohibited).
-
Maintain hygiene and safe handling.
-
Contact us if you cannot care for your hedgehog.
-
Understand sales are final (no refunds on animals or supplies).
14. Right of Refusal
Cancellation and Refunds
If a sale is canceled due to welfare concerns, you will receive a refund for all payments except the non-refundable $100 deposit, which will be processed within 60 days.
Honesty and Eligibility
Dishonesty or abusive language toward our staff will result in cancellation of the purchase, and the $100 deposit will not be refunded.
We ask that all buyers provide honest and accurate information about:

Current hedgehog ownership

Intentions regarding breeding

Intended owner of the hedgehog
Supply Readiness
If proper supplies aren’t secured, we will have to refuse the sale, and any payments made will be forfeited. Supplies can be costly, so please plan accordingly to avoid surprises.
Restrictions and Reviews
Information from the prospective buyer form may be reviewed by Gunner’s Quills and shared with collaborating breeders, our USDA inspector, or our veterinarian of staff.

Homes with opposite-sex hedgehogs may be declined for adoption.

Any false or incentivized Google reviews related to adoption refusals may lead to blacklisting with our collaborating breeders and legal action.
Hedgehogs are not ideal pets for classroom pets or surprise gifts.
15. Adoption Application
Thank you for taking the time to read our policy in full and agree to the terms and conditions. Before placing a deposit to reserve a baby, joining the waiting list, or scheduling a Meet & Greet, you must complete and receive approval on the Prospective Buyer Form.
